SHIFTLOG
Shiftlog runs a block of work. When it ends, it asks one question. That answer becomes a record you can actually read back.
Aim: ship the font sizing fix
What did you accomplish?
ENTER SAVE · CTRL ENTER SAVE AND CONTINUE · ESC SKIP
A small window, in front of whatever you were doing. Answer in a line, or press Escape and it records the time anyway. Six seconds of your attention, once an hour.
The copper number is the uncomfortable one: how long you were at the desk against how much of it is inside a block. It is meant to be uncomfortable.
All of it is arithmetic over your own record. No account, no connection, no key.
Add an API key from any provider you like and Shiftlog will write the week up. Your key, your endpoint, your choice of model, including one running on your own computer.
It reads the record and tells you what you would not notice from having lived it. The thing raised four times and never settled. The aim named every morning and never worked on. The thread that went quiet.
Without a key it makes no network requests at all, and the figures above still work.
Chrome, Brave, Edge and other Chromium browsers, on desktop.
Your record lives in your browser. Export it as JSON, Markdown or CSV whenever you like, restore it just as easily, and turn on a weekly backup if you would rather not think about it. Lock it behind a passphrase if you share the machine.
